Late Arrival in Barcelona

I got in about 2230 to the Sants Station in Barcelona.  When I bought my ticket online, it didn't say how long the trip was.  I assumed about 6 hours....and I was totally wrong.  It took another passenger 8 hours to go to San Sebastian from Barcelona, meaning we wouldn't arrive until 2330 and the metro stops running at midnight.  I also didn't know how late would be safe to ride the metro.

Trip from San Sebastian to Barcelona

Everything turned out fine, as I expected considering the hours Spain keeps, but my mind likes to play games just to scare the crap out of me.  Then of course, I re-read the part in my tour guide about not looking like a tourist, not riding alone, and not riding late at night on the metro, which further freaked me out.  Since I had no choice about any of those things, I simply had to accept reality and deal.  I followed someone who looked like she knew where she was going, a very nice woman, and we rode together until I needed to change lines.

I made it to the hostel with no problems whatsoever and my hosts are incredibly accommodating.   I'm sharing a 3 bed room with two Canadians from Toronto, Tao, an ER nurse and Colin, a Paramedic.

This is the first hostel that I've stayed in that has a common area that doesn't close around 2230.  It's actually pretty big and really nice.  I really like this hostel, but I know there are no rooms available in a few nights, so I'm not sure how long I'll stay.
